Samsung is at it again, pushing the boundaries of smartphone tech with something truly next-level.
Thanks to our collab with David from @xleaks7, we spotted Samsung patent that reveals drawings of Samsung's first-ever vertical rollable smartphone.
And we’ve gotta say, it looks pretty impressive.
Based on what we've seen, Samsung’s rollable device rocks a compact design that expands vertically.
Imagine switching between a smaller, pocket-friendly size and a full-sized screen perfect for streaming or gaming. Pretty neat, right?
From the drawings, the front display has fairly thin bezels, although the chin appears quite large.
The phone also looks thicker than a typical Samsung device, due to the rollable mechanism inside.
On the back, there’s a dual-lens camera setup with a flash, similar to what we see on the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6.
Interestingly, even though the patent references a rollable smartphone, it doesn’t include any illustrations of the device in its expanded state.
So we still don’t know just how large the screen gets when fully unrolled.
While the leaked design is exciting on its own, the real magic might come from the AI under the hood.
We expect these features to be included in the rollable smartphone:
- On-the-Fly Translation: Talk in your language, see their reply instantly translated - right on the screen. Great for calls or in-person chats, especially with the rollable display showing both sides clearly
- Helpful Suggestions, No Fuss: This phone could handle small stuff for you - like reminding you when to leave, or giving you a quick summary of long messages. Quietly useful, without you needing to ask
- Quick Fixes for Photos: Remove stuff from the background, tweak colors, or adjust a photo with just a few taps. A bigger screen would make editing way easier and more fun.
- Smarter Camera Shots: Expect it to auto-detect scenes, fix lighting, and help frame your shots without any setup. Just point, shoot, and let it handle the rest
- Better Gaming On the Go: The phone might manage power and heat to keep games smooth, and with the rollable screen, it could even show extra controls or stats off to the side
While Samsung hasn’t officially announced this rollable smartphone yet, the leaks alone are enough to get tech fans buzzing.
If this is the direction Samsung’s headed, the future of smartphones is about to get very interesting, very fast.
Stay tuned - this is one innovation we're definitely keeping our eyes on.
